It’s not just me, right? This house is leaning? Full disclosure, there is a slight hill on this stretch so that could skew perspective. But I’m as close to even horizon as possible and you can compare the gaps between the houses and see they’re not even. Yikes.

This house on the corner of S Fairfax and Duke was supposedly a corner store from the mid-1800s until the 1950s. It’s now a private residence but still retains very store-like front windows.

This house on South Pitt St has an amazing yard and looks cute from the outside. The Internet says it was built in 1920 and updated in the 80s. They have a walled yard and off street parking. Very posh.

The City of Alexandria wrapped some of their busses and painted two of the crosswalks outside City Hall for Pride month! Today was Pride Fest at the Market Square and there will be events all month long. I love living in an area that is so inclusive!

Virtue Feed & Grain is a restaurant on South Union Street bordering Wales Alley and has a nice view of the Potomac. The building was a feed house in the 1800s and is now a tasty restaurant serving a “modern American tavern menu”. Plan ahead on weekends!

Many of the homes in Old Town have tiny little alleys to access the back yard. I love the variety of doors and gates people use to “hide” them.

This home on S Saint Asaph St is hidden behind others. They’ve been doing major work for several months. To sell or to live in? Time will tell. The Internet says it was built in 2000 and has almost 3500 sq ft. Plus off street parking probably makes this a pricey home.

This house is showing signs of age when you look closely: corners that aren’t square, sagging windows, lopsided shutters, etc.

This photo doesn’t show well, but the brick wall along the side of this house is bulging out. If you look closely, you can also see multiple layers of paint peeling off the bricks.

The Shipbuilder statue was dedicated in 2004. It sits on the Strand between King and Prince streets. It depicts a 19th Century shipbuilder and commemorates Alexandria’s strong shipbuilding industry in the past.

Today was the fifth Old Town Festival of Speed & Style. Dozens of great cars and free! Takes place on the blocks immediately around City Hall.

Certain times of the year we’re reminded that we live in the middle of a tourist spot. The tourists are usually confined to King Street and not back in the neighborhoods (unless they’re on a ghost tour). City Hall and Market Square is the primary drop off and pickup spot.

This tree-lined section of Wolfe St is very picturesque. Except the house on the left clearly needs a paint job.
